About the Role

Apex Companies is an award-winning multidisciplinary engineering and consulting firm providing a broad range of consulting, engineering, and compliance services across water, environment, ESG and resiliency, health and safety, compliance and assurance, and infrastructure.

Work Areas/Positions

• 5 Co-op positions available.
• 4 in the Quincy, MA office:
• 3 to support the water/wastewater group.
• 1 to support the transportation group.
• 1 in the Woburn, MA office to support the water/wastewater group.

Co-op students typically support a project team with design, permitting, and construction administration activities. Work primarily consists of office tasks but may include a field work component (e.g., GPS and/or construction observations). The type of work and extent of responsibility depend on student aptitude, time of year, and current project schedule.

Key Responsibilities

• Support project teams with design.
• Support project teams with permitting.
• Support project teams with construction administration.
• May include field work such as GPS and/or construction observations.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Valid driver's license.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
• Solid technical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience in AutoCAD and GIS mapping software (Esri products) is preferred.

Qualifications

• Candidates should ideally be currently enrolled in or have completed the following civil engineering or equivalent courses:
• CIVE 2221. Statics and Solid Mechanics
• CIVE 2260. Materials for the Built Environment
• CIVE 2261. Lab for CIVE 2260
• CIVE 2334. Environmental Engineering: Principles, Technology, and Sustainability
