About the Role
An established and growing MEP consulting engineering firm is seeking a Junior Mechanical Engineer to join its team and contribute to the design of HVAC and plumbing systems for commercial, healthcare, institutional, and laboratory projects. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent Mechanical Engineering graduate with relevant internship or co-op experience, or an early-career engineer with up to three years of professional experience, to build a career in MEP consulting.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the design and engineering of HVAC and/or plumbing systems for commercial buildings.
- Develop engineering layouts, drawings, and construction documents using Revit and AutoCAD.
- Support HVAC load calculations, equipment selection, ductwork layouts, and piping design.
- Assist with BIM coordination, model reviews, and clash detection.
- Coordinate mechanical designs with architectural, structural, electrical, and other project disciplines.
- Participate in field surveys and construction site visits to gain practical project experience.
- Help prepare design documentation and support projects through the construction document phase.
- Collaborate with senior engineers and project teams to develop efficient, code-compliant building systems.
Requirements & Tech Stack
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Relevant MEP, HVAC, plumbing, or building systems experience through an internship, co-op, or approximately 6 months to 3 years of full-time professional employment.
- Revit experience strongly preferred; AutoCAD familiarity is beneficial.
- Exposure to HVAC and/or plumbing design, engineering calculations, building systems, or construction drawings.
- FE/EIT certification or progress toward taking the FE exam is a plus.
- Strong analytical, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to learn, take direction, and grow within a collaborative engineering environment.
