The Mechanical Design Intern will support the engineering team in developing and refining mechanical components and assemblies for kitchen appliances. This full-time, on-site role in Bengaluru involves creating and updating 3D models and technical drawings using CAD tools, assisting in prototype development, and participating in design reviews. Daily tasks include collaborating with senior engineers, performing basic mechanical calculations, documenting design changes, and supporting testing and inspection activities to ensure product reliability and performance. The intern will also help troubleshoot mechanical issues, coordinate with cross-functional teams, and contribute to continuous improvement of design processes and product features. The internship duration is 3 to 6 months.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in product design and development activities for home appliances
• Create and modify 3D models, assemblies, and technical drawings using SolidWorks
• Support prototype development, testing, and validation activities
• Work on component design, sheet metal parts, plastic parts, and mechanical assemblies
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams including sourcing, tooling, production, and quality
• Conduct basic engineering calculations and design analysis
• Support product benchmarking and competitor analysis
• Prepare design documentation, BOMs, reports, and presentations
• Participate in brainstorming and innovation discussions for new product concepts

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Proficiency in SolidWorks for 3D modelling and drafting
• Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes such as sheet metal, plastics, and fabrication

Qualifications

• Pursuing or recently completed a B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering
• Good understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Good communication and teamwork abilities
• Knowledge of GD&T and engineering drawings is preferred
• Exposure to product development and prototyping processes is preferred
• Basic understanding of motors, fans, refrigeration, or home appliance systems is preferred
• Familiarity with AutoCAD or other CAD software is an added advantage
• Interest in innovation, smart appliances, and consumer product design is preferred
