Design Intern & Artist Assistant

About the Role

• Support public art, sculpture, and design projects.
• Contribute to concept development, digital modeling, presentations, prototyping, and fabrication preparation.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with concept development, visual research, and design exploration.
• Develop Rhino 3D models and support computational design workflows.
• Prepare drawings, renderings, and presentation materials for proposals and ongoing projects.
• Create shop drawings and files for laser cutting, 3D printing, and other fabrication processes.
• Help build physical models, prototypes, and artwork components.
• Research materials, suppliers, and fabrication methods.
• Support studio organization and safe shop practices.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Rhino 3D (required)
• Grasshopper (a plus)

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong creative thinking, attention to detail, and an interest in public art and hands-on making.
• Experience with 3D printing, laser cutting, model making, or fabrication drawings is preferred.
• Ability to communicate clearly, take direction, manage time effectively, and work independently.
• A portfolio demonstrating design thinking, modeling skills, and project development.

Schedule & Location

• Paid internship.
• In-person at the studio in St. Cloud, Florida.
• 10–20 hours per week.
• Applicants must have reliable transportation.
• Scheduling can be coordinated around academic commitments.
