Power Electronics Engineer
chargeMOD
About the Role
chargeMOD is an energy-tech company building India's EV charging ecosystem end to end.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop power conversion stages for EV: AC-DC (PFC) front ends and isolated DC-DC converters (LLC, phase-shifted full bridge, DAB).
- Simulate circuits and control loops in LTspice, PLECS, PSIM or MATLAB/Simulink before building hardware.
- Select and size power components: MOSFETs, IGBTs, SiC devices, gate drivers, capacitors, sensors and protection devices.
- Design and test magnetics (inductors and high-frequency transformers) with suppliers.
- Create schematics and review PCB layouts for power paths, thermal performance and EMI.
- Build and bring up prototypes; measure efficiency, ripple, transient response and thermal behaviour in the lab.
- Work with the firmware team on control, protection and fault handling (over-voltage, over-current, over-temperature, ground fault).
- Support compliance and certification testing (IS 17017, IEC 61851, EMC and safety standards).
- Debug field returns and production issues, and feed fixes back into the design.
- Prepare design documents, test reports and BOMs.
Requirements & Tech Stack
- B.E./B.Tech or M.E./M.Tech in Electrical, Electrical & Electronics, Electronics, Power Electronics or a related field.
- 0–3 years of experience in power electronics design, testing or validation. Freshers with strong academic projects or internships are encouraged to apply.
- Solid fundamentals in converter topologies (buck, boost, flyback, full bridge), switching devices and basic control theory.
- Hands-on lab skills with oscilloscopes, differential and current probes, power analysers, DC power supplies and electronic loads.
- Comfortable working safely with high-voltage, high-power hardware.
- Ability to read and create schematics in at least one EDA tool (Altium, KiCad, OrCAD or similar).
- Clear written and verbal communication in English.
Freshers: please share your final-year project, internship work or any hardware you have built, with photos, reports or a GitHub link.
Nice to Have
- Experience with EV & EV chargers, onboard chargers, solar inverters, UPS, motor drives or SMPS products.
- Exposure to SiC/GaN devices and high-frequency magnetics design.
- Digital control on microcontrollers or DSPs (TI C2000, STM32 or similar).
- Knowledge of EV charging standards and protocols: IS 17017, IEC 61851, CCS2, Bharat AC/DC, OCPP.
- Thermal design and EMI/EMC debugging experience.
- Familiarity with design for manufacturing and working with contract manufacturers.
What We Offer
- Hands-on work across the full product cycle, from simulation to certification and field deployment.
- Mentorship from senior hardware engineers and a well-equipped power electronics lab.
- A fast-moving startup culture with room to grow into senior and lead roles.
- Competitive salary, health insurance and performance-linked rewards.
