About the Role
API Automation Test Engineer
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain API automation test frameworks.
- Perform functional, integration, regression, and end-to-end API testing.
- Validate RESTful and SOAP web services using automation tools.
- Create, execute, and maintain automated test scripts.
- Analyze API specifications, business requirements, and technical documentation.
- Integrate automated test suites with CI/CD pipelines.
- Identify, track, and report defects using defect management tools.
- Perform database validation and backend testing.
- Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and DevOps teams to ensure product quality.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, sprint planning, and test strategy discussions.
Requirements & Tech Stack
- Experience testing REST and SOAP APIs.
- Strong understanding of HTTP, JSON, XML, OAuth, JWT, and API security concepts.
- Knowledge of SQL and database testing.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
- Experience with performance testing tools such as JMeter.
- Exposure to Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Knowledge of microservices architecture.
- Experience working in DevOps environments.
- Exposure to BDD frameworks such as Cucumber.
Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with Postman, Rest Assured, Karate Framework, SoapUI, or ReadyAPI.
- Proficiency in Java or Python.
- Experience with automation frameworks such as TestNG or JUnit.
- Knowledge of CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps.
- Experience with version control tools such as Git.
