About the Role
As a Software Development Intern, you will spend the summer working on a project within the Digital Grid Management (DGM) team. You will have the opportunity to apply your academic learnings in a real-world work environment and present your final project to senior leadership. This internship offers professional development opportunities and the chance to network with employees.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop rich client applications for visualizing the power grid, leveraging tools like OpenGL and WebGL.
- Develop web applications for analyzing outages, predicting future conditions, and monitoring complex systems, utilizing frameworks like Angular.
- Develop mobile applications for field crews and executives to monitor KPIs and respond to business demands.
- Develop 'Big Data' applications using databases such as Cassandra and MongoDB to drive business intelligence.
- Develop applications to predict load or renewable generation using machine learning.
Requirements & Tech Stack
- C, C++, Java, Python, JavaScript
- OpenGL, WebGL
- Angular
- Cassandra, MongoDB
- Networking knowledge and protocols including TCP/IP, UDP, DNS, XMPP, HTTP, MSRP, XCAP, SOAP, REST, DNP.
- Proficiency with platform independent tools and libraries.
- Knowledge of numerical methods and simulation of physical processes.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's program for Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
This is a three-month summer position.
Hourly Internship Pay Rate: $24.00 - $28.00/hour.
