About the Role
Harvey is transforming how legal and professional services operate by combining frontier agentic AI, an enterprise-grade platform, and deep domain expertise. This role offers an accelerated path to ownership, contributing production code to features spanning retrieval, document intelligence, and workflow automation from day one. Develop rapidly at the intersection of AI and professional services with direct exposure to how engineers shape a category-defining product. We're hiring new grads to start in 2027 across multiple teams and roles, including Frontend, Backend, Full-Stack, Infrastructure, and Applied AI.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and ship production-level code across the stack while maintaining high quality, reliability, and security standards.
- Use AI-assisted development tools daily and own the quality of everything shipped.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including AI Research, Legal Engineering, Product, and Design to translate problem statements into compelling product experiences.
- Collaborate through code reviews, technical design discussions, and engineering best-practice development alongside senior and staff engineers.
- Experiment with and evaluate cutting-edge LLMs and AI systems, contributing to how Harvey's platform evolves.
- Potential work areas include retrieval over large document collections, interfaces for collaborating with AI systems, multi-region compute infrastructure, enterprise agents, or secure systems for sensitive client data.
Requirements & Tech Stack
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, graduated either in Winter 2026 - Spring 2027.
- Able to work from our New York or San Francisco office starting in January 2027 and beyond. Relocation support is available.
- Previous internship experience is required.
- Technical foundation: Strong proficiency in one or more languages (Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, Java, Go, or similar) and solid general computer science knowledge.
- Decisiveness: Bias toward action; experience building something start to finish in coursework, a personal project, or a past internship.
- Simplicity: Ability to explain complex technical ideas in plain language; look for the simplest solution that works.
- Job's Not Finished: Proactively seek out feedback and act on it; keep pushing after assignment completion. Past internship experience at an early-stage startup is a plus.
- AI Forward: Comfortable using AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, and curious about building LLMs into your own coding workflow.
Compensation
