HEALTHCARE DATA ANALYST INTERN

About the Role

This internship places you on the healthcare data and analytics team at Medinex Workforce. You will query medical databases, clean and standardize electronic health records, analyze operational clinical metrics, and build automated performance dashboards, learning how healthcare organizations turn complex clinical data into actionable insights.

Key Responsibilities

• Query relational databases using SQL (joins, subqueries, group by, window functions) to extract patient, staffing, and clinical records
• Clean, profile, and validate messy clinical datasets to identify anomalies, duplicates, and missing values
• Build automated health metrics dashboards and reporting models using Advanced Excel (Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP, power formulas)
• Analyze healthcare KPIs such as patient turnaround time, clinical utilization, staffing ratios, and treatment outcomes
• Assist in auditing data alignment with standard healthcare terminologies and coding frameworks
• Create structured summary reports and data visualizations to present clinical insights to operations teams
• Maintain strict data privacy standards and handle protected healthcare information (PHI) with high compliance
• Share progress in a short daily check-in and attend weekly analytics reviews

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Strong foundational grasp of SQL for data extraction, aggregation, and relational querying
• Proficiency in Advanced Excel (Pivot Tables, data cleaning, statistical functions, charting)
• Basic understanding of healthcare datasets, medical terminology, or clinical workflow concepts
• Analytical and methodical mindset with high accuracy when dealing with quantitative records
• Clear written English for summarizing analytical findings and creating data documentation
• A laptop and a stable internet connection

Helpful, but not Required

• Familiarity with BI tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Google Looker Studio
• Understanding of healthcare standards and classifications (ICD-10, CPT, EHR/EMR formats, HIPAA principles)
• Exposure to Python (Pandas) for data manipulation
• Academic coursework, capstone projects, or case studies involving public health or clinical datasets

Qualifications

• Final-year students and recent graduates from B.Tech/B.E. (CS/IT/Biotech), BCA, B.Sc/M.Sc (Statistics, Mathematics, Life Sciences, Health Informatics), B.Pharm, or related quantitative/medical fields
• Freshers seeking practical experience in health informatics, clinical reporting, and healthcare business intelligence
• Candidates available to commit full-time for the duration of the internship

Duration: 1 to 3 months

Stipend: Up to INR 14,000 per month
