Full Stack MERN Developer

About the Role

We're looking for a Full Stack MERN Developer to join our engineering team and help build and scale our pet registration platform. This is a hands-on role where you'll work directly with product, design, and operations to deliver real impact.

What You'll Do

• Design and build full-stack features using MongoDB, Express.js, React (Next.js), and Node.js.
• Architect clean, maintainable data models, working with complex domain logic including multi-city registration workflows, document upload/verification pipelines, staged approval processes, and payment integration.
• Build responsive, accessible React interfaces using TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, and component libraries, with attention to UX details.
• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs with proper authentication, authorization, validation, and error handling.
• Optimize performance, including query tuning, indexing, payload sizing, and frontend rendering.
• Work with file upload and document management systems, handling PDFs and images, validation, storage strategy, and secure retrieval.
• Integrate third-party services such as payment gateways, WhatsApp Business API, email, and SMS.
• Write clean, tested, well-documented code and participate in code reviews.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, designers, and operations.
• Debug production issues and continuously improve reliability and developer experience.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• JavaScript/TypeScript: Idiomatic, type-safe code and understanding of tradeoffs.
• MERN Stack:
• MongoDB: Schema design, Mongoose, aggregation pipelines, indexing, query optimization.
• Express.js / Node.js: REST API design, middleware, authentication (JWT), error handling.
• React: Hooks, component architecture, state management, performance optimization.
• Next.js: App Router, server/client components, routing, data fetching patterns.
• Solid understanding of REST API design.
• Experience with authentication and authorization, including JWT and role-based access control.
• Proficiency with Git and collaborative workflows.
• Ability to work independently and translate vague requirements into working solutions.

Nice-to-Have

• TypeScript in a production codebase.
• Tailwind CSS and component libraries (shadcn/ui, Radix, Headless UI).
• Payment gateway integration (Razorpay).
• File/document handling (S3, Cloudinary, base64 storage tradeoffs, PDF generation).
• WhatsApp Business API or similar messaging integrations.
• Testing experience (Jest, Vitest, React Testing Library, or Playwright).
• Deployment experience (Vercel, Railway, Render, AWS, or similar).
• Familiarity with the Indian SaaS/consumer product landscape.
