About the Role

Zoox's internship program offers hands-on experience with cutting-edge technology, mentorship, and the opportunity to make meaningful contributions to real projects. Interns will work on projects that help ship and run software reliably, safely, and at scale.

  • Platform Software Integration: Integrates hardware, firmware, and software; manages releases; builds firmware tools and hardware-software integration systems.
  • Software QA: Tests vehicle software against requirements, analyzes failures from road data, and builds automation.
  • Site Reliability Engineering: Ensures production services are reliable and observable.
  • Rider Software: Builds the rider-facing mobile and in-vehicle experience.

In this Role, You Will...

  • Present your project at the end-of-summer showcase.

Requirements

  • Currently working towards a B.S., M.S., Ph.D., or advanced degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or a similar discipline.
  • Expected to graduate between Fall 2027 and Summer 2028.
  • Enrolled at an accredited college or university throughout the internship.
  • Able to commit to a full-time, 12-week internship beginning in May/June 2027.
  • Ability to relocate to the Bay Area, California, for the duration of the internship.
  • Interns may not use any proprietary information they are working on as part of their thesis, any published work with their university, or to be distributed to anyone outside of Zoox.

  • Experience with Linux, the command line, and source control (Git).
  • Strong debugging, triage, and problem-solving skills.
