About AIQ Space
AIQ Space is a fast-growing geospatial technology startup developing next-generation software solutions for the GIS & Gov sector. Recognized by the DPIIT, we operate at the intersection of deep tech, complex national & international regulations, and cutting-edge engineering. We are looking for an ambitious, agile, and high-energy Legal Associate to anchor our legal operations and scale alongside the company.
Position Overview
As our first dedicated Legal Associate, you will handle a highly diverse portfolio encompassing everything from corporate commercial work to active dispute resolution. This is a foundational role in a fast-paced startup environment. While day-to-day operations will heavily focus on building our legal infrastructure, you will also be directly involved in litigation, court filings, and dispute strategy as the company's needs evolve. We are looking for a candidate who embraces judicial procedures and displays absolute readiness to represent the company in court, without resistance, whenever required.
Key Responsibilities
- Commercial & Corporate Matters: Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating vendor agreements, non-disclosure agreements (NDAs), software licensing terms, and client contracts.
- Litigation & Disputes: Draft pleadings, petitions, legal notices, and written statements. Conduct extensive case law research, interface with external counsels, and actively represent the company in court or before tribunals when necessary.
- Regulatory & Compliance: Ensure full compliance with DPIIT regulations, corporate laws, data privacy standards, and space tech sector frameworks.
- IP Protection: Assist in managing the company's intellectual property portfolio, including trademark filings, patent coordination, and IP enforcement strategies.
Requirements & Tech Stack
- Education: LL.B. or B.A. LL.B. degree from a recognized university or National Law School.
- Credentials: Active enrollment with the Bar Council of India (BCI).
- Skills: Strong analytical thinking, exceptional legal drafting capabilities, and sharp courtroom/advocacy skills.
- Mindset: A strong "builder" mentality with total flexibility to pivot between drafting contracts and executing courtroom litigation strategies without hesitation.
- Bonus: A basic understanding of or keen interest in technology, SaaS frameworks, or aerospace laws.
What We Offer
- Direct mentorship from the executive leadership team.
- An accelerated career path with immediate ownership of critical legal verticals.
- The chance to work on pioneering legal challenges in the global space tech industry.
