About the Role

TrendAI™, the global AI security leader and enterprise business unit of Trend Micro, empowers organizations with full AI visibility and consolidated security that inspires confidence, drives innovation, and eliminates risk. At TrendAI™, we’re always seeking exceptional talent; people who want to collaborate with the best and push boundaries together. Here, your work goes beyond building a career. You will help protect what matters and play a vital role in shaping a safer, more trustworthy AI-powered future. AI Fearlessly.

This is a hybrid role based out of our Las Colinas office and requires in-office presence 3 days per week.

TrendAI is seeking an early-career Business Intelligence Engineer to join the team and turn product, operational, and security data into reliable, decision-ready insight. This role will be provided with close mentorship from experienced data and analytics engineers as you build your foundation in BI engineering. You will help build the data models, pipelines, and dashboards that business stakeholders rely on. You will learn how our data is structured, how it flows from source systems to reporting, and how small data issues can change a business decision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Write and maintain SQL queries, data models, and transformations that power dashboards and recurring reports.
  • Build and maintain repeatable, scripted pipelines for extracting and transforming data, avoiding one-off manual steps that can't be rerun or audited.
  • Build and maintain dashboards and reports for business stakeholders.
  • Translate business questions into clear technical requirements, working with analysts, engineers, and product partners.
  • Reconcile data across sources and document discrepancies rather than silently choosing one.
  • Validate data accuracy, investigate discrepancies, and monitor data quality over time.
  • Treat missing or failed data as unknown and flag it, so a gap is never reported as a confirmed zero or "none found."
  • Record provenance, metric definitions, and confidence levels so stakeholders can tell verified figures from inferred ones.
  • Test pipelines under realistic conditions (volume, rate limits, source failures) before committing to a design.
  • Support ad hoc analysis requests and help prioritize them alongside planned work.
  • Contribute to team standards for code review, version control, and documentation.
  • Grow your skills with a path toward owning datasets end to end.
  • Proactively communicate to business stakeholders or request owners to make sure the outcomes deliver on time and on quality.

Requirements & Tech Stack

  • Working proficiency in SQL, including joins, aggregations, and window functions.
  • Familiarity with at least one data visualization tool.
  • Comfort working with source systems that are poorly documented or change without notice, such as inspecting web application behavior or undocumented APIs.
  • Experience using AI tools in analysis work while independently validating their output.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain data findings to non-technical audiences.

Qualifications

  • Experience in computer science, data science, statistics, information systems, business analytics, or a related field.
  • Understanding of core data modeling concepts such as dimensional modeling and star schemas, gained through coursework, projects, or internships.
  • Ability to verify outputs against independent sources and to explain how you checked your work.

What Will Make You Stand Out

  • Internship or project experience building dashboards, reports, or data pipelines.
  • Python scripting for data extraction, validation, or automation.
  • Exposure to data quality checks, testing, or audit-trail practices.
  • Exposure to cloud data warehouses (such as Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift) or transformation tools (such as dbt or Airflow).
  • Interest in cybersecurity, cloud, or AI products and the data they generate.

What We Offer You

  • Comprehensive medical, dental and vision insurance
  • Life insurance
  • Short & Long Term Disability
  • Pre-partum, maternity, parental and medical leave
  • Mental Health Wellness Program
  • Adoption Assistance
  • Wellness Incentive
  • Pet Insurance
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Paid Time Off
  • 14 Annual Holidays
  • Tuition Assistance
  • Employee Resource Groups
  • Competitive compensation with bonus opportunity tied to company performance.
  • Room to enhance your skills through ongoing learning and broad technological opportunities.
  • Work-life balance.
  • Team activities, fostering an environment rooted in equity, inclusion, and collaboration.
