About the Role
Nasuni is seeking an Associate Software Engineer for its Datapath team in Hyderabad. This role focuses on building foundational skills in C++, Linux, systems programming, debugging, and performance-sensitive software. You will contribute to the core data-path capabilities of Nasuni's cloud-native file data platform, enabling enterprise customers to manage file data across distributed environments. You will collaborate with experienced engineers on code implementation, defect resolution, test coverage enhancement, and system investigation. This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy low-level problem solving, wish to grow their C++/Linux engineering skills, and are interested in storage, networking, concurrency, file systems, and distributed infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement, test, and maintain C++/Linux software for defined Datapath features, fixes, and tools.
- Debug issues using logs, tests, debuggers, and mentor guidance.
- Write unit tests, improve test coverage, and assist in reproducing product issues with QA and Performance Engineering.
- Learn and apply systems concepts including memory, threading, file I/O, networking, latency, throughput, and reliability.
- Participate in code reviews, design reviews, and technical discussions.
- Utilize AI-assisted engineering tools for code exploration, test ideas, debugging hypotheses, and documentation, ensuring correctness, security, and maintainability.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 0–2 years of software engineering experience (including internships, co-ops, academic projects, open-source work, or early professional experience).
- Foundational C++ or C programming experience on Linux.
- Understanding of data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and basic networking concepts.
- Basic debugging experience using tools such as gdb, logs, test output, Linux command-line tools, or similar diagnostics.
- Ability to write clear code, respond to code review feedback, and communicate task status.
- Curiosity about using AI-assisted development tools responsibly.
Preferred Qualifications
- Internship, project, or coursework involving systems software, file systems, storage, distributed systems, databases, networking, or performance-sensitive software.
- Exposure to multi-threaded programming, memory management, file I/O, sockets, or Linux internals.
- Experience writing unit tests or using Python, Go, shell scripting, or similar tools for automation.
- Familiarity with Git, CI/CD workflows, Linux build tools, sanitizers, tracing, or profiling tools.
- Practical use of AI coding assistants with validation.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Completed a meaningful C++/Linux systems project with measurable goals.
- Demonstrated strong debugging discipline.
- Known for learning quickly, asking good technical questions, and taking ownership.
