About the Role
The Operations Analyst reports to the Director of Reporting and serves the operations team, working alongside the client service and investment teams. More than 50% of the role supports client reporting. This role suits an early-career candidate who wants to learn how wealth management works, offering a range of responsibilities in reporting, technology, and client service to discover preferred work and strengths. The role will shift toward analysis and judgment as experience is built.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting Production
- Run recurring and ad hoc quarterly reporting tasks in Addepar.
- Review client reports, including visual and data checks on performance, benchmarking, and strategic asset allocation.
- Enhance procedures and maintain procedural documentation as the role evolves.
- Evaluate and respond to exceptions, resolving them or escalating when needed.
- Coordinate with fund administrators to resolve missing or conflicting information on capital activity.
Systems & Data Quality
- Act as the first responder on the firm's operational systems for system failures, incorrect transaction postings, or holding discrepancies.
- Learn data flow between platforms, data integrity protection, issue prioritization, and escalation protocols.
- Review automated exception reports and use judgment to identify real issues.
- Investigate flagged items in collaboration with investment and client service teams, and track to resolution.
- Run data checks on commitment schedules, valuation dates, and ownership percentages.
Working Here
- Value judgment over rote procedure; understand the purpose of each step and suggest improvements.
The First Year
- Within the first 30 days: Learn firm's client reporting production, operational workflows, supporting technology, and team collaboration.
- By 90 days: Learn to run and improve recurring tasks, and propose enhancements or automation.
- By the end of the first year: Run a full quarterly reporting production, take ownership of exception handling, and contribute to retiring at least one manual process.
Qualifications
Background
- Bachelor's degree by start date, ideally in finance, accounting, economics, computer science, computer engineering, or another quantitative field.
- No prior full-time experience required. Internships, campus leadership, student investment funds, and client service work are considered relevant experience.
- Familiarity with any wealth management software is a plus.
The interview process focuses on judgment, trustworthiness, reliability, and a willingness to learn.
