(IND) SENIOR, SOFTWARE ENGINEER

About the Role

The Marketing Technology team aims to increase customer acquisition, retention, and revenue by optimizing products and inventing new marketing channels. This role involves working on impactful problems across various domains, including Open Web and Social Marketing, and organic search channels. The team is responsible for the design, development, and operations of large-scale data systems at petabytes scale, focusing on real-time indexing pipelines, web crawling, streaming analytics, and distributed machine learning infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Engineering & Design: Design and build highly scalable and relevant software systems using Java to develop solutions for key business projects and manage multiple agile workstreams using disciplined scrums.
• Execution: Execute and automate software processes at scale and quality to acquire data and manage annual allocated budgets.
• Impact Assessment and Requirement Analysis: Estimate engineering effort and scope based on project requirements and drive impact assessment for any change requests.
• Analytics: Utilize analytical approaches and support the buildout of dashboards to produce actionable insights for improving the efficiency of automated and programmatic software processes.
• Team Player: Learn quickly, drive results, and interact with Walmart engineering teams across geographies to leverage expertise and contribute to the tech community. Coordinate with subject matter experts, combining sophisticated analytical capabilities with technical expertise in building high throughput and low latency data-driven pipelines.
• Operation Excellence: Monitor software systems, detect anomalies, conduct root cause analyses, perform escalations, and maintain dashboards. Proactively monitor, identify, and escalate systemic issues.
• Stakeholder Management: Maintain relationships with cross-functional stakeholders, create and execute roadmaps based on disruptive strategies, and communicate ideas and progress to technology leadership.
• Engage with Product Management and Business to drive the agenda, set priorities, and deliver products.
• Enable data scientists, business, and product partners to fully leverage the platform.
• Lead the discovery phase of medium to large projects to develop high-level designs.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Hands-on experience in Software Engineering with an ecosystem using Spark, Scala/Python.
• Experience integrating GenAI/ML components and leveraging generative AI tools to enhance development efficiency.
• Proficient in designing and building APIs, with experience in Springboot, Rest API, GraphQL, and API design patterns.
• Proficient in real-time and batch pipelines in big data technologies (Spark/Kafka/Cassandra/Hadoop/Hive/Elasticsearch).
• Hands-on experience with PL/SQL to query data and generate insights using complex queries, stored procedures, and user-defined functions.
• Experience with Cloud Technologies like Azure and GCP.
• Solid knowledge of Linux systems with the ability to troubleshoot issues in complex, distributed, multi-tier architectures.
• Excellent debugging and problem-solving capabilities.
• Experience performing regular support and maintenance of systems to maintain optimal efficiency.
• Working experience in coordinating with and driving teams across various geographies and time zones towards a common software deliverable.
• Experience in bootstrapping production and non-production environments in public/private clouds.
• Experience in secure, scalable, and highly available online services.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.

Qualifications

• BS or MS degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and 2+ years of experience.
• Minimum Qualifications:
• Option 1: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 3 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
• Option 2: 5 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
• Additional Qualifications:
• Experience collaborating with multiple teams.
• Experience in Big Data applications.
• Experience developing with web/app containers such as Apache/Tomcat.
• Follows industry trends in the online world.
• Good knowledge of High performance Stream processing, Large Scale Messaging Systems.
• Preferred Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or related area and 1 year’s experience leading information security or cybersecurity projects.
• Background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility.
• Knowledge of accessibility best practices.
• IT - CISCO Certification.
