Field Applications Engineer New College Grad

About the Role

Applied Materials is the global leader in materials science and engineering solutions. This role focuses on advancing AI and accelerating the commercialization of next-generation semiconductor chips.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify and resolve complex problems at customer sites, managing the full solution implementation cycle.
• Lead recipe creation to optimize system performance and train PSE/AEs in this process.
• Qualify new technologies and features, execute beta sites, evaluations, and customer demos.
• Participate in customer demo activities.
• Contribute to finding and executing solutions for customer challenges.
• Develop new methodologies to optimize system performance for specific applications.
• Analyze and transfer new application capabilities from product divisions to customer application support teams.
• Participate in customer technical review meetings.
• Design, develop, and improve AI/ML and data science based approaches to diagnose leading-edge equipment and high-value customer problems, utilizing academic and professional background.
• Collaborate with multiple organizations to solve customer challenges, increase customer trust, and drive customer success.
• Work with AI/ML/SW developers, semiconductor/display equipment engineers, and device process and integration engineers.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Master’s or PhD in related fields (Mechanical / Electrical / Chemical Engineering, Physics, Statistics, AI/ML).
• Semiconductor/display R&D experience and coursework preferred.
• GPA of 3.0 or above preferred.
• Travel: 10% of the Time.
