Plumbing Engineer Intern/Co-op Summer 2027

About the Role

CMTA, a Legence Company, is seeking a Plumbing Engineer Intern/Co-op for Summer 2027. This full-time, onsite position offers hands-on training in plumbing design, allowing students to immerse themselves in the consulting engineering world. The program aims to build industry-competitive skills in a hands-on environment, working on real CMTA projects with professional engineers. This is a great opportunity to work on complex MEP projects and become an important part of the design team.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce detailed layout and equipment details of Plumbing systems
• Produce one-line diagrams/schematics
• Assist the design team in assembling organized sets of drawings
• May assist in data collection and/or field verification
• Work in conjunction with designers and engineers to help develop all aspects of a project

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Pursuing a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering, preferably a sophomore (2nd year) or junior (3rd year)
• Strong interest in Building Systems Mechanical Engineering (emphasis on Plumbing)
• AutoCAD and Revit experience preferred
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
• Ability to work both independently and with a team
• Ability to work full-time in the office throughout the co-op term
• Ability to travel locally for job site inspections, field work, etc.

Additional Details

• This position is full-time (40 hrs./week) and onsite.
• Competitive hourly pay rate, eligible for overtime pay.
• Start date: May 2027 through Summer 2027. Dates are flexible with school calendar.
• Hope for multiple co-op rotations with possible consideration for full-time employment upon graduation.
