About the Role
Pomo is building an AI-native marketing platform that helps brands turn data and insights into action. We are looking for a new graduate with strong computer science fundamentals, sharp judgment, and the drive to build real products. You’ll work closely with experienced engineers, take responsibility for meaningful features, and see your work reach customers.
How We Work
This is an intense, fast-moving startup environment with an expected six-day workweek and an on-site role in the South Bay Area. Expect ambitious goals, direct feedback, changing priorities, and substantial ownership. We value urgency alongside thoughtful engineering: understand the problem, make sound decisions, and follow through on the result. You should be excited by a demanding environment where learning and execution happen quickly.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and ship features across our product, backend services, and AI workflows.
- Turn ambiguous customer needs into clear technical plans and intuitive product experiences.
- Use AI coding assistants, coding agents, and other AI tools throughout development—from exploring a codebase and prototyping to testing, debugging, and review.
- Own the quality of what you ship: understand the code, validate assumptions, test failure paths, and address reliability, performance, and security.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, design, and product; explain tradeoffs clearly and raise blockers early.
Requirements & Tech Stack
- Strong computer science foundations: data structures, algorithms, time and space complexity, and an understanding of how software systems work.
- Practical knowledge of standard algorithms, including sorting, searching, graph traversal, recursion, and dynamic programming. You can explain when to use them and reason about their tradeoffs.
- Solid programming ability in at least one language, demonstrated through projects, internships, research, open-source contributions, or other substantive work.
- An AI-native development mindset. You actively use tools such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or equivalents, know how to give them useful context, and can critically evaluate their output. You remain accountable for every change you ship.
- Critical thinking: you ask precise questions, break down unfamiliar problems, challenge assumptions, and change your mind when the evidence warrants it.
- Clear written and verbal communication. You can explain your reasoning, listen carefully, and disagree constructively.
- Ownership and curiosity. You follow problems through to resolution, seek feedback, and care about whether the result actually helps the customer.
Helpful Experience
- Experience with web applications, APIs, databases, distributed systems, or LLM-based products is a plus.
- We care about the depth of your understanding and what you’ve built more than the number of frameworks on your résumé.
Why Pomo
Work alongside engineers with experience at DeepMind and Databricks, contribute to consequential product and technical decisions, and build AI software for real customer problems. This is an opportunity to develop your engineering judgment through hands-on ownership and close collaboration with an experienced team.
