About the Role
SoFi’s Finance Leadership Program (FLP) is an exciting opportunity for recent graduates and early-career professionals who are passionate about data, analytics, and using technology to drive better financial decisions in a fast-growing FinTech company. This role combines information systems and engineering with foundational accounting exposure. You will rotate within the Controllership organization and partner across Finance Transformation, Finance Systems, Business Intelligence, Accounting, Reporting, SOX and Financial Data Governance. You will help turn complex financial and operational data into reliable reporting, scalable processes, and actionable insights. You will also collaborate with other FLP colleagues across Strategic Finance, Corporate and Functional Finance, Treasury, and Capital Markets to develop a broad understanding of SoFi’s business and the role Finance plays across the organization. As an Associate, you will work on value-add assignments spanning financial analysis, reporting automation, data quality, process improvement, and accounting operations. You will collaborate with finance and technology stakeholders to translate business needs into practical analytical solutions, while building a strong understanding of SoFi’s accounting processes, financial statements, controls, and regulatory environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and own end-to-end accounting data pipelines (e.g., Workday Financials to Snowflake), ensuring accuracy, completeness, and scalability.
- Build and maintain scalable data models and reporting layers to support financial analysis, decision-making, and external reporting.
- Continuously evaluate and enhance the finance technology stack, balancing in-house development with vendor solutions to optimize performance, control, and scalability.
- Translate accounting requirements into system logic, data models, and automated workflows that support financial reporting and operations.
- Partner with Accounting, Finance, and Engineering teams to identify opportunities to automate processes and improve data flow across systems.
- Embed internal controls, audit trails, and validation checks directly into system architecture to ensure SOX and audit compliance.
- Working both independently and in a team setting, contribute to a wide variety of monthly and quarterly accounting and finance processes and short-term assignments to develop and strengthen your technical and leadership skills and business acumen.
- Build, enhance, and automate financial and operational reporting that provides actionable insights to Finance and Controllership leadership.
- Analyze large, complex data sets to identify trends, exceptions, data-quality issues, and opportunities to improve processes and decision-making.
- Partner with Accounting, Strategic Finance, Treasury, and other stakeholders to translate reporting and analysis requirements into clear, scalable deliverables.
- Support the development and maintenance of dashboards, data pipelines, reconciliations, and reporting processes using tools such as SQL, Python, Excel, Google Sheets, Tableau, Alteryx, dbt, or similar platforms.
Requirements & Tech Stack
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Systems, Data Science, Engineering, Analytics, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Finance, Accounting, or a related quantitative field, with availability to start by Summer 2026.
- Interest in applying data science, analytics, automation, or business intelligence capabilities within Finance, Accounting, or FinTech.
- Foundational coursework, academic projects, internship experience, or demonstrated interest in accounting, finance, economics, or financial reporting.
- Experience working with data using SQL; exposure to Python, R, Tableau, Alteryx, dbt, or comparable analytics and visualization tools is strongly preferred.
- Ability to organize, analyze, and communicate insights from large data sets with attention to accuracy and detail.
- Comfort with Excel and/or Google Sheets and willingness to learn financial systems, accounting concepts, and reporting processes.
- Strong problem-solving, oral, and written communication skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively across multiple projects.
- Intellectual curiosity, a growth mindset, and interest in the FinTech industry.
- No more than 12 months of professional full-time work experience, excluding internships and research assistant roles.
- Must be attending a U.S.-based university for U.S. positions and able to obtain work authorization in the U.S. in 2026.
