About the Role

We're looking for a talented concept/illustration artist and background designer to join our 2D animation team. You'll design and paint environments for animated projects, from early concept explorations to final background art, working closely with our art directors and animators.

Key Responsibilities

• Create concept art and environment designs based on briefs, scripts, and references
• Develop final digital backgrounds that match the project's style and colour direction
• Explore mood, lighting, composition, and colour to support the story
• Build layouts and background assets that work smoothly in the animation pipeline
• Incorporate feedback from art directors and deliver revisions on schedule
• Maintain consistency across scenes and episodes

Requirements

• Strong foundation in digital illustration, with an eye for composition, perspective, colour, and lighting
• Solid background design skills, including environments, props, and architecture
• Proficiency in Photoshop
• A portfolio that shows background or environment work; personal projects and college work are welcome
• Ability to adapt to different art styles and follow style guides
• Good communication skills and a willingness to take feedback
• Able to work from our Pune office

Good to Have

• Basic understanding of 2D animation workflows and background layout
• Experience with stylised, children's, or storybook-style animation
