About the Role
The Engineering Leadership Development Program (ELDP) is a challenging 3-year rotational program designed to accelerate the development of highly qualified, motivated engineers. Participants will be exposed to different program types, business units, geographic locations, and elements of the design lifecycle. The program includes mentorship, education assistance, robust training, and cross-functional engagement to accelerate career growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide mechanical engineering support for new product development and factory support of existing products.
- Translate product requirements into a mechanical specification and test plan.
- Execute verification testing as defined by the mechanical specification and test plan.
- Conduct design analysis and testing, including structural and thermal, to ensure designs meet customer requirements.
- Understand customer needs, generate test procedures, and execute tests.
- Generate and/or process engineering change orders (ECO’s).
- Work directly with mechanical designers on CAD models and part documentation.
- Perform structural analysis of aircraft modifications, including design support and preparation of technical documentation for airworthiness.
- Determine stress levels in aircraft structure, systems, and equipment, comparing them to material properties to predict failure and structural instabilities.
- Coordinate installation design, modification, maintenance, and repair of aircraft structures, mechanical systems, and mission equipment.
- Apply basic engineering design and/or analytical theory with an understanding of structural analysis for integrated system design.
- Support the transition from engineering design to manufacturing, assembly, and aircraft installation.
- Apply principles supporting aircraft lifecycle maintenance (repair, rework, and designing replacement parts).
- Work on a variety of tasks and aircraft systems on various aircraft platforms.
Requirements & Tech Stack
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, or Materials Science Engineering.
- Must be pursuing or have completed a Bachelor's degree within the last 12 months.
- Ability to relocate every 12 months for the 3-year duration of the program.
- Exposure to CAD or analysis (FEA) tools.
- Experience in mechanical design or analysis of electronic systems, structures, and mechanisms.
- Familiarity with transducer instrumentation, data collection, automation, and software programming for numerical analysis.
- Ability to apply the principles of Structural Mechanics to predict internal stresses and structural instabilities.
- Ability to generate free body diagrams, determine reaction forces, calculate internal loads, and develop shear and moment diagrams.
- Working knowledge of at least one programming language.
- Familiarity with finite element methods and fatigue and damage tolerance principles.
