About the Role
The Accountant - Technical Accounting role involves processing month-end duties, including the preparation and completion of journal entries and financial reports. This position will support year-end audits by creating and updating schedules to substantiate financial results, and perform account reconciliations to ensure accuracy of balance sheet values. The role requires ensuring processes adhere to correct GAAP accounting and are supported by sufficient documentation for both procedure and purpose.
Key Responsibilities
- Support Year-end audit activities, including updating SAP, preparing/updating schedules, and preparing sections of audited statements.
- Prepare and/or approve monthly close data, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
- Analyze operating financials, interpret results, and recommend actions to improve the accounting process.
- Perform account reconciliations to provide strong control on the balance sheet.
- Serve as backup for key individuals in the Corporate Accounting Department.
Requirements & Tech Stack
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Experience applying GAAP knowledge.
- Advanced skill in Microsoft Excel (e.g., using AVERAGE function, merging and centering cells, printing centered page, creating pivot tables).
- Ability to work with large amounts of data.
- Strong expertise in at least one area of GAAP.
- Experience with SAP, AS400, and QAD systems.
- Experience with RDMS (Access, FoxPro, etc.).
- Experience with International Finance Reporting Standards (IFRS).
Qualifications
- Certification / Licensure: None required.
- Preferred Certification / Licensure: CPA, CGMA, CMA.
