Python Backend Developer Intern

About the Role

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Python Backend Developer Intern to join our software development team. The candidate will work on real-world backend development projects and gain hands-on experience in building scalable, efficient, and maintainable backend applications using Python, FastAPI, and PostgreSQL. The ideal candidate should have a strong foundation in Python programming, an understanding of database management, and a willingness to learn modern backend development practices.

This internship is intended for candidates who are willing to work with us for the long term and grow alongside the company. Based on performance, learning ability, technical skills, and overall contribution, a full-time employment opportunity may be offered.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain backend applications using Python and FastAPI.
• Design, develop, and integrate RESTful APIs.
• Work with PostgreSQL databases, including database design and query optimization.
• Implement database operations using ORM (SQLAlchemy).
• Manage database schema changes and migrations using Alembic.
• Write clean, reusable, and maintainable code.
• Perform API testing, debugging, and troubleshooting.
• Use Git for version control and collaborate with team members.
• Understand and implement API validation, error handling, and basic authentication.
• Work closely with the development team to understand requirements and deliver assigned tasks.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Python Fundamentals, OOP, functions, exception handling
• FastAPI: API development, routing, request/response handling
• PostgreSQL: Database design, SQL queries, CRUD operations
• ORM: SQLAlchemy models, relationships, database operations
• Alembic: Database migrations and schema versioning
• REST: API HTTP methods, status codes, JSON, API integration
• Git & Version Control: Git commands, branching, commits, merging, GitHub

Additional Skills (Preferred)

• Understanding of asynchronous programming in Python.
• Knowledge of Pydantic and data validation.
• Basic understanding of authentication and authorization.
• Familiarity with Postman for API testing.
• Understanding of MVC or layered backend architecture.
• Basic knowledge of Linux commands.

Qualifications

• Pursuing or completed B.Tech, B.E., BCA, MCA, or a related technical degree.
• Strong interest in backend development using Python.
• Good logical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Willingness to learn new technologies and development practices.
