Junior Full Stack Engineer

About the Role

CheckedUp is hiring a Junior Full Stack Engineer for a Full Time position in Hybrid-New York City.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and ship features end-to-end: API endpoints and UI components, database migrations.
• Write REST endpoints in FastAPI or Node.js, and data access code with SQLAlchemy.
• Build UI in ReactJs/TailwindCSS, and internal data apps in Streamlit.
• Write and maintain unit and integration tests for shipped code.
• Work in a monorepo; keep dependencies and scripts tidy.
• Efficiently use AI coding assistants to draft code, tests and documentation. Verify, review, and own the result.
• Fix bugs, take part in code reviews, and learn from feedback.
• Document builds so the next engineer can understand them.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• 0–2 years of professional experience, or equivalent through internships, bootcamps, open source, or personal projects.
• Working knowledge of Python or JavaScript/TypeScript, and willingness to learn.
• Experience with at least one front-end framework: React, Next.js.
• Comfort writing SQL queries and a basic understanding of relational data modeling.
• Familiarity with Git, pull requests, and reading other people's code.
• Hands-on use of AI-assisted coding tools, plus the habit of checking their output before trusting it.
• Curiosity, clear communication, and a willingness to ask questions early.

Desired Experience

• Projects built with FastAPI, SQLAlchemy, or Streamlit.
• Exposure to monorepo tools such as uv or npm workspaces.
• Basic Docker or CI/CD experience.
• Basic Cloud services (AWS, GCP, Azure).

Compensation

• Salary range: $100,000-$120,000.
• Competitive salary dependent on prior experience.
