Custodian (DOH/FBMC #60005+)

About the Role

This position will perform custodial duties to maintain a clean and sanitary environment at a long-term care facility.

Key Responsibilities

• Service, clean, or supply restrooms.
• Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming.
• Gather and empty trash.
• Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
• Mix water and detergents or chemicals in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications.
• Dusting and washing windows.
• Exterminate insects and rodents.
• Make minor repairs.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Skills:
• Ability to provide customer and personal service.
• Ability to perform physical activities requiring considerable use of arms, legs, and whole body movement (climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, handling of materials).
• Ability to work independently with little supervision.
• Working Conditions:
• Work performed in an institutional setting, indoors and outdoors in inclement weather.
• Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, and emotionally upset people.
• Subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, and conditions.
• May be subject to handling and exposure to hazardous chemicals.
• Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet.
• Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet.
• Position may require rotating shifts, weekends, overtime, and holidays.
• Employment Requirements:
• Will be screened for tuberculosis (TB) upon hire.
• Employment is subject to a nationwide criminal background check.
• This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement.
