About the Role
Medical Coding Intern (ICD-10, CPT, Medical Billing, Healthcare) | Remote
This is a full-time, remote internship opportunity in India for 1 to 3 months. Interns will work on live projects under the guidance of experienced team members.
Job Details
- Job Title: Medical Coding Intern

- Stipend: INR 14,500 to INR 16,000 per month

Key Responsibilities
- Read medical records, doctor notes, and patient charts to assign correct medical codes.
- Apply ICD-10 and CPT codes accurately per standard coding guidelines.
- Review diagnosis and procedure details to ensure codes match documentation.
- Support the medical billing team by preparing clean and accurate claim data.
- Identify coding errors, missing details, and documentation gaps, and report them.
- Maintain coding records and prepare daily and weekly productivity and accuracy reports in Excel.
- Follow healthcare compliance, data privacy, and confidentiality standards.
- Collaborate with the team to understand requirements and deliver tasks on time.
Requirements & Tech Stack
- Medical Terminology, anatomy, and physiology knowledge.
- Understanding of ICD-10 and CPT coding.
- Understanding of medical billing and the healthcare insurance process.
- Good attention to detail and accuracy.
- Basic knowledge of MS Office or Excel.
- Good written and spoken English communication.
- Candidates must have a laptop or computer and a stable internet connection.
Good to Have
- Knowledge of HCPCS codes and E/M coding guidelines.
- Familiarity with US healthcare, insurance claims, and HIPAA basics.
- Basic understanding of medical coding tools or encoders.
- Any medical coding course, certification (CPC, CCS), or internship experience.
Eligibility
- Students and recent graduates in B.Pharm, D.Pharm, BDS, BPT, B.Sc (Nursing, Life Sciences, Biotechnology), BAMS, BHMS, M.Sc, or any related life sciences field.
- Freshers interested in building a career in medical coding.
