About the Role
Premier Global Links LLC is seeking a hands-on Mechanical Engineering Lead for an innovative technology company developing advanced sensor systems and AI-powered solutions. This role involves ownership of mechanical engineering and product hardware development, from concept and CAD design through prototyping, testing, manufacturing, and field validation. You will design rugged, precision-engineered sensor systems integrating LiDAR, cameras, GPS, IMUs, and onboard computing. The ideal candidate enjoys building physical products, solving complex mechanical challenges, and working across the full hardware development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical design and development of sensor systems, enclosures, mounting structures, and product hardware.
- Create and refine 3D CAD models, mechanical assemblies, and detailed engineering drawings.
- Develop sealed IP67-rated enclosures and mounting solutions for vehicle-based sensor systems.
- Perform thermal analysis, vibration analysis, and mechanical design validation.
- Build prototypes, test hardware, identify design issues, and implement improvements.
- Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles to prepare products for production.
- Work directly with suppliers and manufacturing partners to improve component quality and manufacturability.
- Support assembly, integration, testing, and field validation of hardware products.
- Collaborate with electrical, software, and product engineering teams to integrate mechanical and electronic components.
- Take ownership of mechanical engineering projects from concept through production and deployment.
- Contribute to the development of new hardware products and future product configurations.
Requirements & Tech Stack
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline, or equivalent demonstrated hands-on engineering capability.
- Practical experience with CAD modeling and mechanical design.
- Strong understanding of mechanical assemblies, materials, and product development.
- Ability to develop prototypes and solve practical engineering problems.
- Familiarity with engineering drawings, design validation, and manufacturing processes.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a hands-on approach to engineering.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of technical projects.
- Experience with CAD software, Finite Element Analysis (FEA), and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) is preferred.
- Knowledge of Design for Manufacturing (DFM), thermal modeling, and vibration analysis is preferred.
- Experience designing enclosures, sensor mounts, or rugged hardware products is preferred.
- Exposure to LiDAR, cameras, GPS, IMUs, or embedded computing hardware is preferred.
- Experience with prototyping, supplier coordination, manufacturing, or field testing is preferred.
- Strong personal engineering projects, competition-team experience, or a portfolio demonstrating practical hardware development is preferred.
Qualifications
- 0–5 years of hands-on mechanical engineering experience. Exceptional recent graduates with a strong record of building real hardware are welcome.
Location
- Dogpatch area of San Francisco, California.
- On-site position.
- Travel to customer locations in the United States and internationally may be required, including supplier visits in China.
