About the Role
This is a 6-month fixed-term contract opportunity for 2025/2026 graduates to join NatWest Group as an AI ML Trainee. This role offers a chance to hone technical skills and advance your career in a challenging environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Engineer and maintain innovative, customer-centric, high-performance, secure, and robust solutions.
- Work within a feature team to engineer software, scripts, and tools, some of which may be complex.
- Liaise with other engineers, architects, and business analysts across the platform.
- Produce complex and critical software rapidly and of high quality that adds value to the business.
- Work in permanent teams responsible for the full software lifecycle, from initial development through maintenance to decommissioning.
- Collaborate to optimize software engineering capability.
- Design, produce, test, and implement working code.
- Work across the software lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, coding, testing, deployment, and operations.
Requirements & Tech Stack
- Python programming skills
- Understanding of object-oriented programming, modular code, and basic software development practices.
- Understanding of data structures and algorithms.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Conceptual understanding of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, including concepts related to models, training, inference, and data.
- Understanding of software engineering practices, including version control, testing, debugging, and collaborative development.
- Ability to learn independently, experiment with unfamiliar technologies, and collaborate effectively within an engineering team.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in computer science and software engineering fundamentals.
- Curiosity and enthusiasm for solving problems using technology.
- Willingness to learn rather than extensive commercial experience.
- Exposure to Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), AI agents, or Agentic AI is desirable but not essential.
