About Herbenzo
Herbenzo discovers and develops potential pharmaceutical ingredients from traditional medicine and natural sources, integrating scientific research, chemical information, and modern technology to create evidence-backed product specifications.
What you will work on
Help build and improve an AI-assisted research pipeline that connects medicinal plants, their chemical compounds, and scientific evidence to make research faster, more organized, and easier to verify.
- Build useful AI workflows: Use LLMs and other AI tools to find, extract, organize, and summarize information from scientific papers, turning repetitive research steps into practical workflows.
- Connect trusted data sources: Work with resources such as NCBI, PubMed, and PubChem, including APIs, to collect relevant literature and chemical information.
- Link traditional knowledge to science: Map Sanskrit and Telugu herb names to correct scientific plant species, synonyms, and associated marker compounds, checking ambiguous matches.
- Structure and validate information: Organize findings into usable datasets, retain source references, review AI-generated outputs, and improve accuracy.
- Take on real startup problems: Explore new tools, test ideas, document findings, and contribute across tasks as priorities evolve.
What you could help deliver
A working research data pipeline or prototype that takes a herb name or research topic, gathers information from scientific sources, identifies candidate plant and compound details, and presents structured findings with references for human review. The specific project will be shaped by team priorities and your strengths, with practical milestones, guidance, and feedback.
Who we are looking for
Curious, resourceful students who enjoy figuring things out and using technology to solve unfamiliar problems. The emphasis is on learning, experimenting, thinking, and turning ideas into working solutions rather than knowing every tool.
What matters most
- Hands-on use of AI: Effective use of AI tools for research, building, debugging, analyzing, and moving work forward, including choosing the right approach, asking good questions, and testing/improving output.
- Problem-solving over tool lists: Comfort in breaking down problems, trying different approaches, and finding practical solutions.
- Fast learning and adaptability: Quickly picking up new concepts, seeking information independently, and comfortable switching tasks based on startup priorities.
- Ownership and follow-through: Taking responsibility for tasks, communicating blockers early, and working towards usable results.
- Care with information: Checking sources, questioning uncertain results, and understanding the importance of accurate and traceable scientific information.
Useful experience
Some experience with Python, data handling, APIs, databases, AI/LLMs, automation, or research projects will be helpful. Familiarity with RAG, NLP, scientific databases, bioinformatics, chemistry, or Ayurveda is a plus. These are helpful starting points, not a mandatory checklist.
Who can apply
- B.Tech / M.Tech students in Computer Science, AI, Data Science, Biotechnology, or related fields.
- B.Pharmacy / M.Pharmacy students interested in AI and computational research.
Students from JNTU Hyderabad and affiliated colleges are especially encouraged to apply.
How to apply
