Accountant(Full-time/Intern for minimum 2 years)

About the Role

S.M. Shaikh & Co. is a professional accounting and advisory firm in Navi Mumbai. This role involves day-to-day accounting activities, assisting in financial statement preparation, tax computation and filing, and ensuring compliance. Team members work closely with clients across sectors, gaining exposure to various accounting standards and regulatory requirements. This is a full-time, on-site role in Navi Mumbai.

Key Responsibilities

• Recording transactions
• Maintaining ledgers
• Preparing vouchers
• Reconciling bank and vendor accounts
• Assisting in the preparation of financial statements
• Supporting tax computation and filing
• Ensuring compliance with accounting and tax regulations
• Working with senior team members on audits, documentation, and reporting
• Interacting with clients to clarify financial data or requirements

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Accounting software
• MS Excel for data entry, reconciliations, and basic financial analysis

Qualifications

• Foundational knowledge of accounting principles and standards, including journal entries, ledgers, trial balance, and financial statement preparation.
• Understanding of direct and indirect taxation concepts, compliance requirements, and basic return preparation (training can be provided).
• Strong attention to detail, numerical accuracy, and organizational skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work on-site in Navi Mumbai.
• Ability to collaborate within a team and maintain professional conduct.
• Pursuing or completed a degree/diploma in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Interest in pursuing professional qualifications (e.g., CA, CMA) is an advantage.
• Willingness to commit to a minimum 2-year internship period (for intern positions).
• Willingness to engage in continuous learning and development.
