About the Role

Notion is building the collaborative AI workspace where teams and agents think together. This internship focuses on enhancing the iOS platform that empowers engineers to ship confidently. The mobile team is evolving its first-generation foundations into a durable platform, emphasizing clearer architecture, easier testing, dependable observability, and faster CI/CD. As an intern, you will own a focused project on this platform, collaborating with engineers from mobile platform, mobile AI, and core product teams. You will identify and address challenges that slow down mobile engineers, shipping a solution to improve their workflow.

What You'll Achieve

  • Ship a real project to production, guiding it from problem definition to a shipped result by the end of the summer, with guidance from your mentor.
  • Make the iOS platform more engineer and agent-friendly by building and improving tools for building, running, testing, and screenshotting the app, enabling faster iteration without compromising quality.
  • Gain exposure to how a production iOS platform operates, including shared frameworks, build systems, release quality, and the shared Rust layer.

Requirements & Tech Stack

  • Pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field. Must graduate before Summer 2028.
  • Previous internship experience.
  • Working towards proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Swift, Typescript, and React.
  • Demonstrated ability to problem-solve and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Interest in challenges and discovering problems as much as solving them.

Skills You'll Need to Bring

  • Thoughtful Problem-Solving: Ability to accurately understand context, decompose complex problems, and work towards clean solutions, independently or with teammates. Comfortable asking for help when needed.
  • User Focus: Critical thinking about the implications of built features on users, understanding the responsibility that comes with reach.
  • Adaptability in Technology: Not ideological about technology; capable of learning new technologies as needed, understanding tradeoffs.
  • Empathetic Communication: Clearly communicating nuanced ideas, both in writing and in real-time. Engaging thoughtfully with differing perspectives and compromising when necessary.
  • Teamwork: Enjoying cross-functional collaboration to achieve shared goals, with a commitment to learning, growing, and helping others.
  • AI Enthusiasm: Experience building or prototyping features with AI technologies (LLMs, Embeddings, ML) and a desire to learn more.

Nice to Haves

  • Expertise with technologies within Notion's stack, including Typescript, React, and Python.
  • Familiarity with computing pioneers and their contributions.
  • Interests outside of technology, such as art, history, or social sciences.

This internship will take place from May 24 - August 13 or June 14 - September 3 (based on your summer schedule) and requires working out of our NY office during this time.
