Back End Developer Intern

About the Role

This is a remote internship role for a Back End Developer Intern at Laneway. The intern will support the development and maintenance of server-side components, APIs, and databases that power web and digital products.

Key Responsibilities

• Write clean and efficient code.
• Implement business logic.
• Integrate front-end components.
• Participate in debugging and performance optimization.
• Collaborate with consulting and technology teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Assist in building MVP systems.
• Contribute to documentation and code reviews.

Qualifications

• Strong foundational skills in Programming and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP).
• Hands-on experience or coursework in Back-End Web Development and general Software Development.
• Basic understanding of Front-End Development to support integration and collaboration with front-end teams.
• Familiarity with at least one server-side language (e.g., Python, Java, JavaScript/Node.js, C#) and relational or NoSQL databases.
• Ability to work remotely, manage time effectively, and collaborate in a distributed team environment.
• Analytical mindset with problem-solving skills and attention to code quality, security, and performance.
• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Interest in startups, business consulting, and building scalable digital products is highly beneficial.
