About The Job
The YouTube User Experience (UX) team is a multi-disciplinary community of designers, user researchers, content strategists, motion designers, and design technologists. Together, we power experiences used by over two billion monthly viewers and millions of creative creators globally across mobile, web, living room devices, and emerging platforms. Our goal is to make video accessible, engaging, and valuable for everyone, everywhere. We believe that thoughtful design can bridge cultures, amplify voices, and build meaningful digital communities. As a UX Designer Intern at YouTube, you will address complex, real-world product challenges. You won't just be making mock ups, you will own design work, contribute to active feature launches, and collaborate directly with cross-functional partners. During your internship, you will be embedded within a core product domain (such as Creator Ecosystems, Living Room & TV Platforms, Main App Experience, Shorts, or Learning & Community). A dedicated senior designer will mentor you throughout the program to guide your professional growth and help you navigate design at scale.
Key Responsibilities
- Define user flows, wireframes, visual specs, and interactive prototypes that address user pain points and strategic product goals.
- Partner closely with Product Managers, Engineers, and UX Researchers to validate concepts, iterate on feedback, and ensure technical feasibility.
- Utilize and contribute to YouTube’s global design system, ensuring consistency across touchpoints.
- Present design concepts and rationale clearly to team members, stakeholders, and leadership during design reviews.
Requirements & Tech Stack
- Experience conducting user interviews or surveys.
- Relevant experience in applying user-centered design principles in intern, work or project setting.
- Experience with design tools (e.g., Figma, Framer Studio, etc.).
- A design portfolio that demonstrates technical design principles.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a B.Des/M.Des/B Tech/M Tech degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Product Design/Interaction Design or related field, and graduating in 2028.
- Must be currently enrolled in a full-time degree program and returning to the program after the completion of the internship.
- Strong design background in interaction design, graphic design, or motion design fundamentals.
- Solid analytical, creative, and visual thinker with excellent communication skills, both verbal and visual.
