About the Role
The Transportation Operation Center (TOC) is the central command and control for 'Transportation Execution' across the Amazon Supply Chain network, supporting multiple geographies. TOC ensures timely pick-up and delivery of freight and resolves exceptions, keeping stakeholders informed. It also involves analyzing network exceptions, automating processes, and proposing changes to streamline operations through network monitoring and data analysis. TOC plays a critical role in the smooth functioning of Amazon transportation, directly impacting the ability to serve customers on time.
Purview of a Trans Ops Representative
A Trans Ops Representative at TOC facilitates information flow between stakeholders (Trans Carriers/Hubs/Warehouses) and resolves issues impacting customer experience and business continuity. This role works across two verticals:
- Inbound Operations: Deals with Vendor/Carrier/FC relationships, ensuring timely freight pick-up and delivery to FCs as per appointment. Addresses issues during the pick-up to delivery lifecycle.
- Outbound Operations: Deals with FC/Carrier/Carrier Hub relationships, ensuring trucks leave FCs for customer order deliveries as promised. Addresses issues during the freight lifecycle from FC departure to customer premises.
A Trans Ops Representative provides timely issue resolution by researching and querying internal tools and making real-time decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Communicate with external customers (Carriers, Vendors/Suppliers) and internal customers (Retail, Finance, Software Support, Fulfillment Centers).
- Pull data from numerous databases (using Excel, Access, SQL and/or other data management systems) and perform ad hoc reporting and analysis.
- Develop and/or understand performance metrics to drive business results.
- Scope out business and functional requirements for Amazon technology teams that create and enhance TOC software systems and tools.
- Quickly understand the business impact of trends and make data-driven decisions.
- Systematically escalate problems or data variances to relevant owners and teams, and follow through on resolutions.
- Work within various time constraints to meet critical business needs, while measuring and identifying activities performed.
- Create narratives outlining weekly findings and variances to goals, and present these findings.
- Provide real-time customer experience by working in a 24*7 operating environment.
Requirements & Tech Stack
- Basic understanding of Logistics.
- Clear communication, both written and oral.
- Ability to analyze data and notice trends.
- Ability to drive Customer Experience without compromising on time.
- Zeal to ideate process improvements and drive them to conclusion.
Qualifications
- Basic Qualifications:
- Experience working and communicating with multiple stakeholders, C-level executives and cross-functional teams or equivalent.
- Knowledge of Excel (Pivot Tables, VLookUps) at an advanced level and SQL.
- Experience working with fast-moving, high-performance teams and driving innovative solutions tailored to unique business environments.
- 10+2 degree.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Six Sigma, Lean manufacturing efforts, transportation and logistics, or fulfillment and distribution centers.
- Knowledge of and proficiency in Excel and SQL.
