LCA or USCIS approval: know which you are looking at

An LCA is the wage filing an employer makes with the Department of Labor before an H-1B petition; one hire can have several. USCIS approvals count petitions actually decided. LCA data is richer (job title, salary, wage level, city) but overstates final hires; USCIS data is the true outcome but has no job or salary detail.

Why the wage level matters for new grads

Most new grad H-1Bs are filed at prevailing wage Level I. A company that files thousands of H-1Bs only for senior engineers is a weak bet for a new grad. Of the tools here, only Interstride (through your university) and FirstHire let you see entry-level filings directly.

Which tool for which question

About FirstHire's data

We make FirstHire. We count certified LCAs at wage Level I for new employment from the latest DOL quarterly file, by employer, role and city, and match them against live entry-level jobs. Universities and research institutes are marked because they file without the H-1B lottery.

Frequently asked questions

What is the most accurate H-1B sponsor database?

For whether petitions were approved, the USCIS H-1B Employer Data Hub, because it is the official decision data. For salaries, titles and wage levels, the DOL LCA disclosure files and the tools built on them.

How do I find companies that sponsor H-1B for new grads?

Look for employers with many Level I (entry-level) LCAs for new employment in your role. FirstHire's H-1B sponsor pages rank employers by exactly that and link to their open entry-level jobs.

Does an LCA mean the company will sponsor me?

No. An LCA shows the company has filed for H-1B workers in that role before. Ask the recruiter directly, and check the job posting for sponsorship wording.
